The Crisis and Emergency Management
Conference (CEMC) is a pioneering initiative of the UAE’s National Crisis and Emergency
Management Authority (NCEMA), and the first regionally relevant endeavour of its
kind. Over two days, it will address a broad spectrum of crisis and emergency related
issues at the national and regional levels.
Objectives
With specific regard to crisis and emergency management, the conference’s scope
includes the achievement of important objectives such as:
• Creation of awareness
• Emphasis on the very real need for preparedness
• Encouragement of cross-border co-operation between regional countries
• Generation of relevant networking opportunities
• Sharing of crisis and emergency related experiences
• Encouragement of best practices
Broad scope, specific focus
The multi-faceted nature of crises and emergencies warrants a holistic
approach to the subject, and speakers of distinction will address a varied range
of topics at the CEMC, ranging from preparedness and counter-terrorism, to industrial,
environmental and construction related issues.
Harnessing the technological advantage
Importantly, in an era that increasingly benefits from new technology and
the Internet, the ability to leverage the media, telecommunications and online technologies
is essential to ensuring preparedness and the efficacy of relief operations. Appropriately,
these subjects will also be covered in considerable depth by a distinguished panel
of experts on the subject.
Critical alliances
From the perspective of interfacing and creating synergistic relationships,
the conference will be the ideal forum to exchange ideas, experiences and concerns,
as well as to create mutually beneficial alliances with experts, practitioners,
policy makers, and the individuals and organisations that matter. Spontaneously,
commercial opportunities will also emerge during the course of the conference.
